Artist Statement
Painting for me is the narrative of history in the present tense; the history in which I have heard, observed, worried and anticipated, the narrative of the history through which I have lived, and amidst which I have beheld, where was divided in two halves; in one half, there was me in longing for life, and in the other, the inside me anxious in anticipation of life, a struggle between what was and wasn’t.
My works tend toward the abstract, yet remain faithful to nature in structure, and always will be.
It takes more than the abstract to recapture from nature the view in which the second half had disappeared into the horizon, and captivate it in an image. This abstraction is the necessity of painting. Omission of the accessories, omission of other people I have passed by and who have passed by me has been emphasized more expressly in my works. I prefer nature with people who are watching it standing behind the artist, those who have been viewers, will always remain so.
