About the Artist
In Noella Noel's work she explores an internal part of herself that is not always on view. As a person, she is reserved, orderly and contained, her work, however, is bold, colorful and expressive.
The large scale allows her to have a more physical connection to the paint and canvas.
Music plays an important part in her process. It allows her to shut down internal voices and doubts and in return provides a rhythm. She paints in oil and acrylic but when she feels a need for a closer, more visceral connection she uses other tools, such as oil sticks or graphite to make marks. In some instances, she uses her hands as tools to paint.
